영어 해석 좀 도와주세요..ㅜㅠㅠ

But let me begin by declaring that I have had considerable company in mistaking this book for something it is not, for in reading it the first time through I also consulted the critical literature on this text, which for the most part misconstrues what i take to be its meaning and intent, thanks to assumptions not too far different from my adolescent prejudices.

하지만 많은 이들이 이 책을 오해해 왔다는 점을 밝히면서 이야기를 시작해야겠습니다.
저 또한 이 책을 처음 읽을 때 critical literature를 참고하였습니다.
그런데 그 critical literature는 제가 청소년이었을 때 가졌던 편견에서 아주 다르지는 않은 가정을 토대로 하여, 제가 생각한 의미와 의도를 대부분 곡해합니다.

해석은 했는데 문제가 있어 앞뒤 내용이 있으면 좀 더 확실해질 듯
company를 모호하게 '많은 이들'이라고 해석했고
두 번째 문장이 내가 해석한 내용이 아니라 critical literature 말고도 다른 뭔가를 참고했다는 뜻일 수 있음(단어 'also' 때문에 그럼)
