진짜 울고싶다..... 나지금 college application 쓰고있는데 내 gpa 망.... 도와주라

9학년때 미국이민와서 영어 잘못하는상태에서 Honors English, Honors Literature 이런거 들음..... 그리고 AP course 14 개 들었는데 그래서그런지

unweighted gpa 는 3.40/4.00 이야... weighted 로 하면 4.67/4.00 이고.... 근데 보통 대학들은 weighted gpa 안보지 않아...? 아...진짜 왜 여려운것만 골라서 들었지...ㅠㅠㅠ 울고싶어.....

대학에서 course intensity 도 보니...?

they do look at weighted gpa. Even if they look at unweighted GPA, they also look at the rigor of classes you took, so if you took a lot of APs, that'll help

Really? I am going to declare my major as chinese, and I got 800 on the Chinese subject test. Would this help? btw, I also took AP chinese, scored 5

Your high school academia has no influence on declaring your major. It's good for college apps, since you are showing your interest in your prospective major, but honestly, it doesn't harm, but it doesn't help.

well then... I guess I will have to write a really good essay.
For the extracurricular activities, I have been working for a software company, as an assistant (paid), and for a professional orchestra (paid) along with my school related extra curricular. Would these be helpful with declaring major?

You don't declare your major until sophomore year of college. NOTHING you do in high school will help you declare your major. It's all just for college apps, and getting into college of your choice. Declaring major is a whole new story once you are in college.

I can't give you a specific answer to that, because gpa is not the only thing that matters. Of course high gpa gives you better chance of getting in, but your essay, extracurricular, sat/act scores also has effects on your acceptance. Also, colleges aren't looking for someone with good gpa, good scores. In good colleges, everyone has good gpa, good scores. They look for the qualities you have as a person, and the potential you have in giving back to the college. College app is basically selling yourself to the college. Show off who you truly are, and don't rely so much on the numerical statistics.
