So we’re at the basketball game, and I showed him a song called “New Life.” And I had already been working on “Burn It,” and there was this understanding that of course, we’re gonna both be on each other’s projects. So I showed him “New Life,” and he said to me, “I really like this song, but I can’t really hear my style in it.”
So I ended up just sending him the whole album, like, you pick a song, whatever you want. And he ended up really loving “Blueberry Eyes,” which I was kind of pleasantly surprised at. I don’t know which song I thought he was going to pick, but that wasn’t the first song. He just loved it.
I’m glad I just gave him the freedom to choose what he responded to the most, because now that the song is what it is, I can’t imagine it without him. It’s special to have another language with the same love, and emotion and sweetness, and tenderness. You can feel it through his version too. What you hear on “Blueberry Eyes” is exactly the first thing he sent me. I was blown away with it right away, and blown away that he matched the message so perfectly.
윤기랑 농구경기 보러갔을 때 "New Life"라는 곡을 들려줬대 그때 당시 이미 "Burn It" 작업을 하고 있었기 때문에
서로 각자 노래에 피쳐링해주기로 한 상태였대 그래서 "New Life"를 들려줬는데
윤기가 "노래는 정말 좋은데 내 스타일이랑은 잘 안맞을 것 같다." 라고 해서 그냥 앨범 전체를 다 보내줬대
그냥 원하는 곡 아무거나 고르라고
그래서 고른게 블루베리 아이즈였는데 좋은 의미로 좀 놀랐대
앨범을 보냈을때 윤기가 무슨 노래를 고를지는 몰랐지만 블루베리 아이즈를 고를거라고는 생각하지 않았나벼
윤기가 그냥 그 노래를 되게 마음에 들어했대
윤기한테 노래를 고르게 해서 다행이래 이제와서 노래가 완성된걸 들어보면 윤기 없는 버전은 상상이 안된다며
다른 언어로 같은 사랑과 감정과 달콤함과 부드러움을 담을 수 있다는 게 특별하대
윤기 버전에서도 그걸 느낄 수 있대
블루베리 아이즈 음원에서 듣는게 윤기가 보낸 첫번째 버전 그대로래
듣자마자 너무 좋았고 노래의 메시지와 그렇게 완벽하게 맞는게 놀라웠대
심지어 초안인게 더 진짜 ㅠㅠㅠㅠ감동쓰
