According to the Moroccan daily, Almassae, Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to celebrate the marriage of his daughter Yekaterina (Katerina) in the great Palace La Mamounia in Marrakech.
Al Massae said that this marriage will be celebrated according to the Russian tradition, and will be attended by several international figures, invited by the strong man of Russia.
The same source pointed out that the Russian President will be in a few days in the ocre city, accompanied by his wife, Lyudmila Putina.
Yekaterina Putina, the younger daughter of Vladimir Putin, has been in a relationship with the Korean Yoon Joon-won for approximately ten years.
A number of websites had reported earlier this year that the Korean Yoon Joon-won, 27, and Yekaterina, 25, were likely to wed shortly after Putin’s presidential inauguration on May 7.
However, Yoon Joon-won (28) told TV Chosun, in an interview on Friday, that the rumors which were widely reported in the press, “were false”.
Marrakech has quickly become the ideal destination of famous people to celebrate their weddings as it is easily accessible from Europe in addition to its exotic and romantic moments it offers.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was in Marrakech this week, and was there, our Moroccan spies tell us, for a hush-hush wedding of his youngest daughter,Yekaterina. The nuptials were reportedly to take place at the luxe La Mamounia Hotel, which got a $165 million makeover in 2009 and relaunched with a bash that brought out stars Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and Salma Hayek. Local reports said the wedding was imminent this month. Then again, there have been reports dating back to 2010 that secretive couple Yekaterina, 26, and Korean boyfriendYoon Joon-won, 28, were imminently getting hitched. The stories were shot down in April by the groom’s father, retired admiral Yoon Jong-gu, according to a Korean broadcast. Either way, we’re assuming the entertainment at the reception was not Putin’s punk nemeses Pussy Riot. The Kremlin announced yesterday that Putin will visit Turkey next week. He’s postponed several foreign trips recently, and is said to have spent most of the past two months at his suburban residence.
Putin‘s daughter to wed Korean after inauguration on May 7

Russian President-elect Vladimir Putin’s daughter will marry a 28-year-old Korean shortly after the presidential inauguration slated for May 7, local radio CBS reported in Seoul Friday.
Yoon Joon-won, the second son of retired Admiral Yoon Jong-gu, 67, and Yekateria Putina (Katya), 26, have been dating for 13 years, since they first met at a ballroom of an international school in Moscow in July 1999.
“Yoon will leave for Moscow today for the wedding,” the radio reported in its Internet edition, quoting government sources. It is reported that Yoon has been escorted by a Russian security guard. He has been staying at a hotel in Seoul since early this week.
Yoon joined Samsung Electronics' branch office in Moscow, after graduating from the University of Illinois in August 2009. However, he quit his job at the electronics giant as news that the couple were dating was disclosed to the public in October 2010.
Yoon attended an international school in Moscow for eight years, when his father served at military attache at the Korean Embassy in the Russian capital from 1999.
Yoon and his family are known to have had a good reputation in the Russian society as honest figures. Yoon, who is fluent in five languages and dances well enough to outshine ‘B-Boy,’ was also a popular student during his middle and high school days.
Later when Yoon was admitted to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in international studies, the two dated in the U.S. and Russia back and forth, through exchange student programs.
They were also reported to have dated in Seoul back in 2002 when the Korea-Japan World Cup soccer championship was held.
Putin, who won his third term on March 4, has two daughters, the elder of whom has married a Dutch.
푸틴, 한국인 사위 맞아… 딸과 13년 '열애'
최근 대선에서 승리한 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 총리가 곧 한국인 사위를 맞게 된다. 그 주인공은 1년 6개월 전 국내를 떠들썩하게 했던 윤종구 전 해군 제독(67)의 차남 준원씨(28)다.
지난 2010년 말 국내 언론에 결혼설이 보도되면서 윤씨가 직장을 잃는 등 적지 않은 아픔도 겪었지만, 이를 이겨내고 사랑을 키워와 결실을 맺게 된 것이다.
정보 당국자는 “윤씨가 푸틴의 둘째딸(막내딸) 예카테리나 푸티나(26·애칭 카챠)와 조만간 결혼해 푸틴의 사위가 될 것”이라고 전했다.
이 당국자는 “윤씨는 다음달 7일로 예정된 푸틴의 대통령 취임 직후 결혼할 것으로 알고 있다”고 말했다. 푸틴은 지난 3월 4일 치러진 대선에서 승리했으며, 취임식은 오는 5월 7일 열린다.
이번 주 초 귀국해 서울 모 호텔에 머물고 있는 윤씨는 20일 출국할 예정이며, 경호원들이 윤씨를 보호하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다. 윤씨는 경호를 받는다는 사실을 무척 부담스러워 하고 있지만 푸틴의 막내딸과의 결혼이 임박하면서 러시아측에서 윤씨의 신변 안전에 만전을 기하는 것으로 알려졌다. 윤씨의 귀국 목적은 정확히 알려져 있지 않지만 결혼 준비를 위해서인 것으로 추정된다.
윤씨가 카챠와 처음 만난 건 15살이던 1999년 7월 모스크바의 국제학교 무도회장에서다. 윤씨는 주 러시아 모스크바 한국대사관 무관으로 근무했던 아버지를 따라와 모스크바의 국제학교에 다니고 있었다.
윤씨는 한 언론과의 인터뷰에서 “당시 형과 바람을 쐬러 나왔는데, 카챠와 그녀의 언니인 마샤가 먼저 말을 걸어왔다”며 “카챠가 아버지를 비즈니스맨으로 소개해 처음엔 푸틴의 딸이라는 사실을 몰랐다”고 밝혔다.
윤씨는 푸틴이 2000년 3월 대통령이 되면서 카챠의 아버지라는 사실을 알게 됐으며, 모스크바에 사는 동안 대통령 별장에서 푸틴의 가족과 휴가를 함께 보내기도 했다.
윤씨는 키가 170㎝를 조금 넘지만 복싱과 농구 등 운동으로 다져진 근육질 몸매에 영어와 러시아어를 유창하게 구사해 당시 국제학교에서 인기가 많았다고 전해진다.
카챠는 윤씨가 한국에 있던 2002년에는 혼자서 한국으로 여행을 와 윤씨 가족과 함께 지내기도 했지만, 윤씨가 미국으로 유학을 떠나있는 동안 둘은 자주 만나지 못한 것으로 전해졌다.
윤씨는 러시아에서 8년 동안 학교를 다니다 미국 일리노이대에서 국제정치학을 전공했고, 삼성전자 모스크바 지사에서 일하다 지난 2010년 말 결혼설이 불거진 뒤 곧바로 직장을 그만둔 것으로 알려졌다.
윤씨는 당시 국내 언론보도 이후 “카챠와 연락도 두절됐고, 그녀의 행방도 모른다”며 힘든 심경을 토로하기도 했다.
윤종구 씨도 1년 6개월 전 아들의 결혼설이 알려진 이후 국제 정치적으로도 민감한 사안이었던 만큼 아주 예민한 반응을 보이며 이 문제에 대해서는 주변의 누구에게도 절대 말하지 않고 함구해온 것으로 전해졌다.
윤종구씨는 현재 재향군인회 국제협력실장을 맡고 있으며, 성격은 깔끔하고 젠틀하며, 업무처리에서는 빈틈이 없고 깐깐한 것으로 알려졌다.
푸틴 총리의 모교인 상트페테르부르크대 동양학부 일본어과를 나온 카챠는 한국어를 비롯해 5개 국어에 능통한 것으로 전해졌다.
권철현 전 주일대사는 CBS와의 통화에서 “2010년 8월 일본에서 윤 제독을 만난 자리에서 윤 제독의 아들과 푸틴의 딸이 찾아와 소개를 받았지만 이후에는 두 사람을 만난 적이 없다. 당시 두 사람이 매우 친밀한 사이로 결혼을 할 것이라는 느낌을 받았다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “푸틴은 첫째 딸도 외국인(네델란드인)과 결혼을 했는데 둘째 딸까지 외국인 그것도 아시아계인 한국인과 결혼한다는 사실이 정치적으로 악영향을 미칠 것을 우려해, 대선이 끝날 때까지 이 사실을 감춰왔던 것으로 안다”며 그러나 “푸틴이 대선에서 승리했고 대통령에 취임하면 (결혼 사실이) 공개될 것으로 생각한다”고 밝혔다.
또한 “윤 제독 가족과는 오랫동안 연락을 하지 않았지만, 최근 두 사람의 결혼이 임박한 것 같다는 얘기를 하는 사람들이 있었다”고 덧붙였다.
윤씨의 지인은 “두 사람은 정말로 깊이 사랑하고 있으며 푸틴도 막내딸이 너무 사랑하는 윤씨를 만나보고는 매우 마음에 들어한 것으로 안다”고 말했다.
일각에서는 이들의 결혼을 계기로 한-러 관계가 한층 돈독해질 수 있을 것이라는 기대감도 나타내고 있다.
